Kellen Graves’ Prince of the Sorrows pulled me into a dark and fascinating world, even if I felt a little lost at first. The story follows Saffron, a changeling who wants to stay in the magical realm of Alfidel, and Prince Cylvan, a powerful fey hiding a secret. When Saffron makes a deal to help Cylvan protect his true name (to avoid being controlled by his enemies) in exchange for an endorsement (to be allowed to stay in Alfidel), things quickly get complicated. There’s a deadly beast called “the wolf,” forbidden magic, and a growing connection between the two of them that makes everything even more intense.

The world in this story feels huge and full of history. At first, it was hard to understand everything—it felt like being dropped into the deep end! But once I got used to the writing and started figuring out the lore, I couldn’t get enough of it. The story itself is pretty simple, but the world-building and the relationship between Saffron and Cylvan make it stand out. Saffron’s struggles as a human surrounded by powerful fey felt real, and the world around him was filled with danger and mystery. It’s a dark and grim tale, but the humor and charm of the characters kept it fun.

What I loved most was Saffron and Cylvan’s relationship. Their banter made me laugh, and their slow-burn romance went from enemies-to-lovers to something really sweet and heartfelt. The chemistry between them is amazing, and there’s one spicy scene that deepens their connection even more. The book ends on a big cliffhanger, and I can’t wait to jump into the next one. This was such a fun and exciting read!
