In Silver Under Nightfall by Rin Chupeco, a thrilling epic fantasy filled with court intrigue, queer romance, and monstrous horrors, Remy Pendergast is an elite vampire hunter, outcast by his peers and burdened by his scandalous lineage. When a deadly new vampire strain emerges, Remy reluctantly teams up with Xiaodan Song, a kind-hearted vampire heiress, and her haughty but captivating fiancé, Zidan Malekh. As their dangerous quest unfolds, Remy’s feelings for the couple grow, and he begins to question long-held beliefs about vampires and his own mysterious heritage. With the Rot threatening to destroy the kingdom, Remy must decide where his loyalties truly lie: with his father and his duty, or the vampires who could change everything he knows.

The White Guy Dies First, edited by Terry J. Benton-Walker, is a chilling anthology of 13 horror stories written by a stellar lineup of authors of color. Flipping the script on classic horror tropes, these tales explore a range of terrors—killer clowns, haunted hedge mazes, cannibals, impossible slashers, and restless spirits—with a fresh and empowering perspective. From a museum curator with a grudge to an old house seeking eternal friendship, the stories blend ancient horrors with modern fears. Featuring contributions from bestselling and award-winning authors like Alexis Henderson, Chloe Gong, Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé, and more, this collection invites you to enter the darkness, knowing one thing for sure: this time, the white guy dies first.

Daylan and the River of Secrets by Edd Tello is a heartfelt queer middle-grade novel-in-verse blending magical folklore with a poignant coming-of-age story. Twelve-year-old Daylan is haunted by his terrifying childhood encounter with Cihuamichin, a mythical water spirit who safeguards his small Mexican town. Struggling with social anxiety and bullying at school, Daylan’s world changes when Eliam, a new student, arrives, stirring unexpected feelings. But when Eliam and his friends defy the water woman’s rules, they endanger the town’s fragile safety. To protect his community, Daylan must confront his deepest fears and dive back into the river that has haunted him for years.

The Brujos of Borderland High by Gume Laurel III is a queer YA novel-in-verse that blends heartfelt coming-of-age struggles with supernatural thrills. Alejandro, a gay teen brujo with the ability to glimpse the past through tarot, is stuck in heartbreak after his first breakup. As he prepares for the winter piano recital, strange supernatural forces disrupt his life, culminating in a time-traveling demon determined to stop the event. To defeat the demon, protect the recital, and possibly find a second chance at love, Alejandro must learn to focus on the future and embrace his power.

Compound Fracture by Andrew Joseph White is a queer Appalachian thriller that delivers an intense and unapologetically political narrative. The story follows Miles Abernathy, a sixteen-year-old trans autistic teen and socialist from West Virginia, as he uncovers the brutal truth behind a century-long blood feud between the rural poor and those who exploit them. After nearly being killed for exposing the corrupt sheriff responsible for a deadly "accident," Miles finds himself at the center of a rebellion echoing his ancestor's miners’ uprising. Haunted by a ghost and driven by his own thirst for justice, Miles must decide how far he’s willing to go to break the cycle of oppression. This gripping, visceral novel is for readers ready to fight for a better world.

Old Wounds by Logan-Ashley Kisner is a queer YA thriller steeped in suspense and horror. It follows two transgender teens, Erin and Max, on a road trip to California, each grappling with personal challenges—Max's desperate quest to transition and Erin’s confusion over why she's even accompanying her ex after their abrupt breakup two years prior. Their journey takes a terrifying turn when they become stranded in a small Kentucky town where the locals demand a female sacrifice for an ancient monster that only eats girls it kills. Trapped in a nightmarish fight for survival, Erin and Max must confront their past and work together to escape a fate no one has ever outrun.

That’s it for now—Part 3 will be coming soon.
